Justly. Mercifully. Humbly.
I don't typically take things personally, but y'all... yesterday I fell victim to the anger and sadness that overtook me when someone did something that just hurt. It was hard, especially since it was targeted at one of my kids. Mama Bear wanted to come out in full force and I had to hold my breath and fight back tears to set a good example for my son. Peace? My spirit was feeling anything but...
But I read this verse and immediately felt convicted:
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
Micah 6:8 NIV
And my attitude was reset. We can still be strong and stand up for ourselves and our children, but do so justly, mercifully, and humbly.
JUSTLY: according to what is morally right or fair
MERCIFULLY: expressing, or showing mercy; compassionate
HUMBLY: not proud or arrogant; modest; courteously respectful
God has already shown me the good that has come from it and I'm excited and at peace. It still hurts, but my heart isn't overcome by it. And can I say how proud I am of my son who has shown more grace and forgiveness than I have? Never lose that, Bud.
